As a Participating Company of the INTERNATIONAL SEAFOOD SUSTAINABILITY FOUNDATION since 2010, South Seas Tuna Corporation Limited adopts resolutions towards fortifying the ISSF Proactive Vessel Register (PVR) to wit:

Resolution 14-02

The International Seafood Sustainability Foundation resolves to adopt the conservation measure that processors, traders, importers, transporters and others involved in the seafood industry, for skipjack, yellowfin and bigeye tuna caught by purse seine vessels, no later than March 31, 2014:

  1. Register all controlled purse seine vessels on the ISSF Proactive Vessel Register (PVR) and thereafter maintain such registry indefinitely. Controlled vessels include vessels majority owned or controlled (a) directly or indirectly (through intermediary entities) by any ISSF Participating Company or any member of the corporate group of which such Participating Company is a part, or (b) directly or indirectly by any individuals who are majority shareholders (or any equivalent form of ownership) of any ISSF Participating Company. Individuals shall include any natural person and his or her family members (including spouse, domestic partner, child, sibling, parent or grandparent, whether natural, adopted or by marriage).

  2. Each Participating Company will develop and publish its individual plan for prioritizing and increasing purchases of tuna from vessels on the PVR, and report the percentage of annual purchases from PVR vessels.

his Resolution does not replace the requirements for purse seine vessels to comply with the commitment objectives listed in any ISSF Resolution, including the ISSF Resolution to Establish Multi-Annual Commitments (Res.13-02), all of which remain in force

Resolution 14-05

The International Seafood Sustainability Foundation resolves to adopt the conservation measure that processors, traders, importers, transporters and others involved in the seafood industry, for skipjack, yellowfin and bigeye tuna caught by large-scale[1] purse seine vessels will:

  1. Source 100% of skipjack, yellowfin and bigeye tuna caught by large-scale purse seine vessels from vessels that are registered in the ISSF Proactive Vessel Register by 31 December 2015;

  2. During 2015, progressively increase sourcing of skipjack, yellowfin and bigeye tuna caught by large-scale purse seine vessels that are registered in the ISSF Proactive Vessel Register above what each Participating Company published in 2014 in accordance with Resolution 13-03.

[1] For the purpose of this resolution, large-scale purse seine vessels are those at least 335 m3 fish hold volume.

South Seas Tuna Corporation Limited affirms that by January 2015, no less than 90% of skipjack, yellowfin and bigeye tuna are sourced from purse seine vessels registered in the ISSF PRV. This will be increased to 95% by July 2015 until December 2015 where 100% or all tuna raw material will be coming from vessels in the ISSF PRV.

Statement of Declaration of SSTC Fishery and Supply Sources

I, the undersigned, together with the General Manager, represent both the Company, SOUTH SEAS TUNA CORPORATION LIMITED hereby declared that the company has purchased and received whole round and brine frozen skipjack, yellowfin, and bigeye tuna in the following manner:

  1. The percentage of our purchases (measured in round ton equivalents) for each of the following Fishery Source categories:

    • MSC-certified fisheries eligible to use the MSC label – 73%

    • Comprehensive FIPs listed on FisheryProgress.org scoring A, B or C or in their initial listing on Fisheryprogress.org – 0%

    • Comprehensive FIPs listed on FisheryProgress.org scoring D or E – 0%

    • Fisheries that have entered full assessment for MSC certification, but are not in a comprehensive FIP listing on FisheryProgress.org – 0%

    • None of the above = 27%

  2. The percentage of our purchases (measured in round ton equivalents) for each of the following Supplier Source categories:

    • ISSF participating companies – 0%

    • Data Check Companies – 0%

    • Direct from vessels – 100%

    • None of the above – 0%

    • Period Covered: 4th Quarter of 2022 – 3rd Quarter of 2023

With the current percentage (%) of fishery source categories, we intend to decrease our raw fish purchases from the “none of the above” category.
